Abraxas is seeking an experienced technical professional to deliver level 2 support for Microsoft platform.


Position Duties

  • Work closely with members of the implementation, support team, development and other teams to upgrade our clients to the latest version of software across a diverse Healthcare client base.
  • Responds to requests for assistance from both Internal / External Clients who are experiencing problems with supported operating system and/or hardware.
  • Working with client IT and Clinical staff to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve Abraxas application issues
  • Documents problem resolutions for reference by team members and clients
  • Provides solutions to proactively reduce help desk calls
  • Work with Project Managers to identify and to resolve problems reported client issues in a timely manner to achieve a successful install and upgrade experience
  • Log detail and accurate activities for all work performed on client issues
  • Communicate daily with clients for status and/or updates of issues according to guidelines
  • Working with 3rd party hardware and software vendors as necessary to assist clients in resolving difficult system problems
  • Provide technical consulting to customers to address system issues and recommend solutions
  • Provide off-hours coverage to clients on a rotating basis
  • Setup necessary development and test environments, copy databases for testing and training
  • Attend training classes as required
  • Achieve the high client satisfaction with exceptional communication skills

  • Solid understanding of the relationship between hardware, operating systems, and application software in a multi-tier environment
  • Knowledge and experience in client-server technology, Windows Server, MS SQL Server administration and database programming, Windows Client OS, Internet Information Server, TCP/IP networking concepts
  • Working knowledge of HTML
  • Previous Level 1/Level 2 support desk experience
  • Microsoft IIS experience
  • Ability to identify, prioritize and execute tasks to meet critical project deadlines
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, adhering to overall department and company procedures
  • Good judgment and the ability to come up with solid solutions and recommendations to a wide range of complex problems on their own
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required
  • Familiarity with Healthcare IT solutions and Medical office environments
  • Proven troubleshooting skills
  • Basic scripting skills a plus
  • Advanced knowledge of the MS Windows platform
  • MS SQL Server training and certification
  • Extensive system backup and DR experience
  • Excellent network and TCP/IP knowledge
  • Proactive network monitoring experience
  • Mid to High level technical certifications and/or training required (Microsoft, Cisco, other)
  • The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of Windows 2003/2008, SQL 2005/2008, experience in application installation/testing procedures and certified on SQL Server administration.
